Development in the northern section of Pitt Meadows presents challenges for developers due to the natural wetlands. The deep peat and bog soil requires considerable filling prior to development. It is easily done but is much more expensive and time-consuming to get a project started. It is also a wildlife refuge, so much of the land is protected. Pitt Meadows is a community that is primarily made up of farmland, wilderness areas, and wetlands habitat. Over 82% of this area is within a Green Zone. This limits the amount of houses and developments that can be built in Pitt Meadows. There are over 60 Kilometres of multi-use trails in and around this area, along with many parks and recreational spaces for all to enjoy. Getting Around In Pitt Meadows
Pitt Meadows urban area is within a short bus ride of Maple Ridge, where the transit has good links to the Greater Vancouver Area. If you are heading into Vancouver Waterfront Station for work, you’ll have two options through Translink or West Coast Express. Through Translink, you can catch the LRT at Maple Meadows Station on Dunn Avenue. The Expo line will have you into downtown in about an hour. The West Coast Express (WCE) has a handful of stops and a more limited schedule but is another good option for commuters. The WCE does stop in Pitt Meadows a the WCE Train Station on Harris Road just north of 122a Avenue.
The bus system throughout Greater Vancouver is part of a regional transportation network called TransLink. No matter where you want to go, you will be able to find the route online!
